Vermont General Employee Training
Mandated by Vermont’s cannabis laws (7 V.S.A. 865(a)), the “General Employee Training” is required for all employees of Cannabis Establishments, must be completed within sixty (60) days of hiring and renewed annually. This certification is essential for ensuring compliance and understanding of critical workplace issues such as human trafficking, diversity, and harassment, thereby creating a safe, inclusive, and legally compliant environment in the cannabis industry.
The training begins with an in-depth exploration of human trafficking and domestic violence awareness, teaching employees to recognize and respond to these critical issues. This component not only enhances workplace safety but also contributes to broader social responsibility.
A substantial focus is on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Through real-life examples and scenarios, employees learn the importance of a diverse workplace, how to embrace and celebrate differences, and the impact of inclusive practices on team dynamics and customer relations. This training is instrumental in fostering a work environment where every individual feels valued and respected.
The training also delves into understanding and mitigating racism and bias. Employees are guided through the complexities of these issues, learning to identify and challenge their own biases and the biases they may encounter in the workplace. This training is crucial for creating a respectful and equitable work culture.
Sexual harassment and discrimination training is another critical component. Employees learn to identify harassment and discrimination in various forms, understand the legal implications, and how to effectively prevent and address these issues in the workplace. This training ensures a safe and respectful environment for all employees and customers.
Learning accumulates in a comprehensive understanding of how these various elements – awareness of human trafficking, diversity and inclusion, addressing racism and bias, and preventing harassment and discrimination – work together to create a healthy, respectful, and legally compliant workplace. The certification is designed to not just meet the legal requirements set by Vermont’s cannabis laws but to also contribute to the development of a more ethical, inclusive, and socially responsible cannabis industry.
