Bulbs For Lighting and Lamps

Incandescent Lamps

cannabis lighting

Incandescent lighting is produced by sending electricity through a filament (superfine wire) which it incurs resistance and then heats it causing it to glow.

These light bulbs will work with any ordinary home light socket for cannabis lighting. These bulbs have a light spectrum that goes into the far red color of the light spectrum.

There are a few incandescent growing lights available since these cannabis lighting systems are expensive to operate, generate a lot of heat, and produce few lumen-per-watt.

Tungsten Halogen Lamps

Tungsten halogen lamps utilize a tungsten wire filament that is in a sealed glass bulb that either uses iodine or bromine to fill the glass chamber and send electricity through the filament to create a bright light.

These cannabis lighting systems are very inefficient and expensive to operate with a very low lumen-per-watt output. The color spectrum that is created from these cannabis lights is in the far red-end spectrum with only 10 – 15 percent in the visible light spectrum.

A CFL light will normally last 10,000 – 20,000 hours while their ballast will last from 50,000 – 60,000 hours of operation.

Low-Pressure Sodium

Low-Pressure Sodium lamps are monochromatic and do not grow cannabis. Do not use these lights for growing because Low-Pressure Sodium lighting systems are used mainly in the industry for security and warehouse lighting.

These lamps require specific ballasts and fixtures for them to operate.
