Audiometric Testing

An audiometry exam tests your ability to hear sounds. Sounds vary, based on their loudness (intensity) and the speed of sound wave vibrations (tone). For each tone, the person indicates the lowest level of intensity that they are able to perceive. Audiometry tests can detect whether you have sensorineural hearing loss such as damage to the nerve or cochlea or conductive hearing loss such as damage to the eardrum or the tiny ossicle bones.
