Employee Harassment Prevention
Harassment is unwelcome conduct that is based on any race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age-based (40 or older), disability, genetic information, and many other factors we will cover. Harassment becomes unlawful where enduring the offensive conduct becomes a condition of your continued employment, or the conduct is severe or pervasive enough to create a working environment that anyone would ever consider intimidating, hostile, or abusive.
Who must receive this training? This non-cannabis-specific compliance program is required by certain legal jurisdictions (ex. California, Connecticut, Illinois, New York, etc.) and these training requirements are exactly the same for anyone who will be working in licensed operations. Government regulators usually required non-supervisory workers to receive at least one (1) hour of annual training and two (2) hours for those in supervisory roles whenever they’re hired or promoted.
Harassing behavior can negatively affect the workplace by damaging morale and productivity. We all have the right to feel safe in the work environment without worrying about being harassed. As employees, it is our obligation to prevent and report harassment or abusive conduct, so that the workplace is always pleasant and respectful for everyone. The goal of this training is to help you learn how to create and maintain a positive working culture so it is always harassment-free.
While effective policy starts with the decisions of business owners, there are wider government laws that protect workers from workplace harassment. A well-known example is the government’s requirement for all businesses to provide equal employment opportunities to workers, so this is included at the end of job postings and applications where all equal opportunity employment laws apply.
