Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Personal Protective Equipment (or PPE) is worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause workplace injuries and illnesses due to processes, environmental conditions, chemicals, radiation, mechanical irritants, airborne contaminants or other risks capable of causing injury or impairment to any part of the body through absorption, inhalation, sound or physical contact. Personal protective equipment may include gloves, safety glasses and shoes, earplugs or muffs, hard hats, respirators, coveralls, knee pads, vests, and full bodysuits.
