Employee Onboarding & Tracking Cannabis Training

Find out why tracking employee training during the onboarding process is a great idea and key to setting up good training habits in your business. Bringing a new member to your cannabis dispensary staff can be a stressful and complicated process, so it’s important that you make sure things go as smoothly as possible.

When you bring someone new into your team, typically they will have to complete a lot of cannabis training as part of their onboarding process to ensure they are up to speed with the way your cannabis business works. Let’s take a look at why tracking employee training in the onboarding process is key and the benefits it can bring to your team!

1. Ensure Staff Are Completing All The Required Training

The first reason to track employee training is obviously to ensure that your new team members are completing the training that you have laid out for them.

When you make a cannabis training plan before a new member of staff starts, you select the essential training they need to do in order to integrate into the company and be competent at their particular job role. Therefore, it’s essential that they complete all the training you have selected for them.

This can be especially key if you use eLearning as a learning method, as your team will be completing the training in their own time, so you need to make sure it is still being done.

If you notice that the cannabis training isn’t being completed, then you can get in touch with each employee and encourage them to start completing the dispensary training again, before they fall massively behind. Tracking the training allows you to spot problems with individuals when they arise and address them promptly.

2. Ensure Staff Are Meeting Timelines

As well as making sure cannabis dispensary staff are completing the training, you also want to make sure they are meeting the training timelines you have set for them. There may be training courses they need to sit before they can even start their job properly, such as getting training on specific software systems you use, or training on how to speak to customers over the phone.

If your dispensary team is missing deadlines, it means they are falling behind on their training, and it could mean that they shouldn’t be taking on particular tasks at work yet as they are not trained on them adequately.

Again, if you notice staff are missing deadlines you have set for them, you can get in touch with them and encourage them to complete the training as soon as possible. Failure to stick to deadlines could lead to dispensary action, and it’s important that you emphasize this to your team.

3. Track Assessment Results

Tracking your staff training also allows you to track any assessments that they complete during their training. If you use eLearning solutions for cannabis industry training, there may be lots of mini-assessments scattered throughout the training course as well as a final assessment at the end.

Tracking assessment results means you can see if your team are passing your training first time, or whether they are struggling with a particular topic or area of training.

If they are having trouble, it may mean they need additional training in that area, or you may need to improve the content of your course because it is not providing them with enough understanding.

4. Keep A Record Of Staff Training

Ensuring you track dispensary employee training during the onboarding process is a great idea because it means you are creating a staff record of their training right from the moment they start with your business. This allows you to always know the training sessions each member of your business has completed and where some gaps in their training lie.

This is particularly handy if you’re arranging training sessions for the future, and you need to quickly know who will need to attend, and who have already completed the training. Simply, check your cannabis training tracking software, and you will have a result in an instant!

It also means your staff doesn’t need to worry about remembering every single training session they have ever completed, which can be overwhelming if you attend a lot of training every year. You can simply reference your training tracking software and be confident that the results are correct.

It also provides your team with an easy-to-reference list of all the cannabis training they have done in the past if they need to use it for things like promotion consideration.

5. Track Dates Of Training For Expiry

While some training only needs to be completed once, there are some cannabis training courses that your team will need to complete regularly for it to stay valid.

Using training tracking software to track employee training is a great way to track the expiry dates of any of these training courses as it will ensure you know when the training expires and can ensure that your staff completes the training again before it is no longer valid!

Again, this prevents your team and your training administration team from having to track these things manually!
