The Cannabis Education Center (CEC) offers training and resources for individuals working or seeking positions in the cannabis industry, either as employees or entrepreneurs. Located at the Kittredge Center, Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA, CEC provides a range of services and programs aimed at connecting industry experts and growing businesses with a skilled workforce, and organizing events to educate and involve the public. One of the offerings includes the “Cannabis Core” program, a 12-hour educational program that provides an overview of the cannabis industry in Massachusetts. This program is designed for those seeking general knowledge and considering a career in cannabis.
It covers various aspects of the industry, including reviews of the plant, cannabis products, the endocannabinoid system, laws and prohibition, growing and plant care, labeling, packaging, testing, and employment considerations, among others. Additionally, CEC has partnered with Green Path Training to offer Responsible Vendor Trainer (RVT) to the Cannabis Industry, which goes through the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission regulations, compliance practices, health, and safety standards. The center also provides academic advising, workforce training, public education events, and entrepreneur opportunities for those interested in joining the cannabis industry as a start-up.
