New Jersey

\”New Jersey made history in 2020 when voters overwhelmingly approved Public Question 1, legalizing recreational cannabis for adults over 21. This marked a significant milestone for the state, which had already established a medical cannabis program in 2010 under the New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act. Today, adults in New Jersey can legally possess up to 1 ounce of cannabis, and licensed dispensaries offer a variety of cannabis products, including flower, edibles, and concentrates. The state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission oversees the industry, ensuring compliance with strict regulations designed to protect consumers and promote public safety.
New Jersey has also implemented social equity programs aimed at ensuring that communities disproportionately affected by cannabis prohibition have access to business opportunities in the legal market. With its proximity to major metropolitan areas like New York City and Philadelphia, New Jersey’s cannabis market is expected to grow rapidly, attracting both local consumers and tourists. The state’s strong regulatory framework and emphasis on social equity make it a model for other states considering cannabis legalization .\”
