Louisiana’s medical cannabis market officially launched in August 2019, following nearly five years of developing the necessary framework. Currently, only two medical cannabis manufacturers, both associated with universities, are licensed in the state. Additionally, only ten pharmacies (dispensaries) have been licensed to distribute medical cannabis with established Louisiana cannabis training requirements.
