Endocannabinoid System
This training equips you with in-depth training in the historical context and the scientific knowledge you need to discuss cannabis in a healthcare or retail setting. Educate yourself to provide the best-informed care for your clients or customers and understand the role that cannabis might play within your recommendations. The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) explores the ECS, a critical homeostatic regulator in the body.
Since its discovery twenty years ago, a huge body of evidence and peer-reviewed research has shown that the ECS is perhaps the most important physiologic system involved in establishing and maintaining human health. This course covers key components of the ECS, the effect of endocannabinoids on physiologic systems, synthetic cannabinoids, and cannabinoid-opioid interactions.
As medical cannabis legalization continues to expand across the country, it is becoming more important than ever for staff working with cannabis in dispensing facilities to understand the science behind medical cannabis – and that means an understanding of the role of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is critical (or the first step).
Topics include ECS research history, ECS-related compounds and terminology, diverse physiological functions of the ECS, endocannabinoid tone, clinical endocannabinoid deficiency (CED), and potential clinical strategies to support ECS function. This course gives participants an overview of different cannabinoids and terpenes, how cannabinoids work in the body, the most current cannabinoid research, and the various cannabinoid-based pharmaceutical drugs currently available.
This course offers specialized education that covers how cannabinoids (e.g., THC, CBD) and other constituents of cannabis work in the human body by stimulating the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and provides an in-depth look at the current state of ECS research. It is recommended for people with a base of knowledge in cannabinoids and in areas such as manufacturing, marketing, education, product development, laboratory operations, and health care.
