Charas (Hindi/Urdu) is the name given to a hashish form of cannabis which is handmade in many South Asian countries and Jamaica. It is made from the resin of the cannabis plant (Cannabis Sativa or Cannabis Indica). The plant grows wild throughout Northern India along the stretch of the Himalayas (its putative origin) and is an important cash crop for the local people. The difference between charas and hashish is that hashish is made from a dead cannabis plant and charas is made from a live one.
A hand-crafted cannabis concentrate made by rubbing live cannabis flowers to extract resin, traditionally produced in the Himalayan regions of India and Nepal. Known for its potent THC content and cultural use in spiritual ceremonies. Charas is a traditional cannabis concentrate originating from the Indian subcontinent, particularly the Himalayan regions. Unlike hashish, which is made from dried cannabis plants, charas is produced by hand-rubbing the resin from live cannabis plants. This method yields a sticky, dark substance rich in cannabinoids, especially THC. Charas holds significant cultural and religious importance, especially among certain Hindu sects, and is often used in spiritual practices.
