**Cannabigerols (CBG)**

Cannabigerols, known in the cannabis community as CBG, are a foundational cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. The etymology of “cannabigerol” traces back to the Latin #1excludeGlossary for hemp and the Greek “geros,” meaning old, signifying its role as a precursor to other cannabinoids. CBG is often dubbed the “stem cell” of cannabinoids because it is the first cannabinoid to form in the plant, eventually transforming into THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids as the plant matures. Historically, CBG was overlooked due to its low concentration in mature plants, but recent advancements in cannabis cultivation have sparked renewed interest. Researchers are now exploring the potential health benefits of cannabigerols, such as their antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. As the cannabis industry evolves, CBG is gaining traction, with cultivators focusing on producing strains with higher CBG levels to cater to the growing interest in its unique properties.
